Deputy CM of a key state ,3 others on board dead after aircraft crashes

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and three other persons were killed after an aircraft carrying them crashed in Pune district on Wednesday morning, news agency PTI reported.
As per media reports “The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) confirmed that the plane crash in Baramati led to the deaths of 5 people, including the NCP leader. Kiran Gujar, close aid of Ajit Pawar in Baramati who is currently at the local hospital said, “All six people including Ajit Pawar brought dead”
A charter plane flying from Mumbai to Baramati crash-landed at 8:45 a.m. in Baramati, Maharashtra, with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on board along with two more personnel and two crew members.
Pawar was heading to Baramati to address four public meetings ahead of the Zilla Parishad elections when the incident occurred.
As per reports, the aircraft VT SSK was attempting a landing, and the aircraft went off the side of the runway and crashed.

Footage from the scene shows the plane’s mangled wreckage, with ambulances rushing the injured to nearby hospitals. Details on what caused the emergency landing attempt are still awaited.
Born in 1959, he’s the nephew of NCP founder Sharad Pawar, is married to Sunetra Pawar. Ajit Pawar was the longest-serving Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, serving non-consecutively. He has served as the 8th Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra alongside Eknath Shinde under Devendra Fadnavis from December 2024 until his death in January 2026.
