State College of Education, Patiala bids emotional farewell to Principal Dr. Depinder Kaur, an epitome of simplicity and service

Dr. Depinder Kaur, Principal of Government State College of Education, Patiala, retired today after serving for more than nearly 30 years of selfless, honest, and dedicated government service.
On this occasion, the college management organized a grand farewell ceremony. They honored her with a memento and praised her special contributions.
During the farewell, speakers from the college highlighted Dr. Depinder Kaur’s excellent academic, administrative, and value-based service. Speakers called her an example of simplicity, tireless hard work, and full commitment to duty.
Dr. Depinder Kaur was born on January 5, 1968, to her father, Ranjit Singh Hajuria, and mother, Harjeet Kaur, in Nadaun, Hamirpur district (Himachal Pradesh).
She received her early education from various schools in Himachal Pradesh. In 1982, she topped the 10th class exams from Dharamshala, proving her talent. Her higher education journey was outstanding. She earned her B.Sc. (Medical) in 1987 from D.A.V. College, Kangra; M.Sc. Chemistry in 1989; M.Phil. (Physical Chemistry) in 1990 with a gold medal; and Ph.D. (Physical Chemistry) in 1993 from Himachal Pradesh University.
Dr. Depinder Kaur started her career in service on January 16, 1995, as a lecturer at Government College, Ropar. After about 12 years there, she was posted as Associate Professor at Government College, S.A.S. Nagar, Mohali, on July 6, 2007. Later, on May 12, 2010, she was transferred to Post Graduate Government College, Chandigarh, where she guided students for nearly 16 years. On July 19, 2024, she was promoted and appointed as Principal at Government State College of Education, Patiala. There, she handled her duties with skill, vision, and the administrative responsibilities given by the DPI (Colleges), retiring on January 31, 2026.
During her service, Dr. Depinder Kaur served as a Senate member and Board of Studies member at Punjabi University, Patiala. The Director of higher education also appointed her as an expert in Punjab Education. She contributed greatly to the all-round growth of institutions with full dedication. The education field has bid farewell to an experienced, sensitive, and committed personality with Dr. Depinder Kaur’s retirement. But her thoughts, service, and commitment to education will always inspire others.
Dr. Kaur belongs to a family deeply committed to public service. Her husband, S. Ravinder Singh, retired as a Director from PSPCL and is currently serving as a Member of the Punjab State Power Regulatory Commission. Her daughter, Bhavsimran Kaur, is a General Manager at Godrej, and her son-in-law serves as an Engagement Manager at McKinsey (USA).
