Free biodegradable utensils to be provided to Langar Committees by the Pollution Control Board during Hola Mohalla

With the objective of reducing pollution and making the special mission of celebrating Green Hola Mohalla a success, officials of the Pollution Control Board and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate-cum-Mela Officer today held a special meeting with Singh Sahib Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib and Acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, along with Langar Committee managers. During the meeting, officials of the Pollution Control Board assured that under the mission of celebrating Green Hola Mohalla, biodegradable utensils will be provided free of cost to Langar Committees in the required quantities. Cloth and biodegradable bags will also be provided free of cost to Langar Committees for collecting waste material from langars.

Today, in the meeting hall of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj and the Langar Committee managers held a special meeting with Mela Officer-cum-SDM Sukhpal Singh, PCS, and senior officials of the Pollution Control Board. Earlier, on 20 February, PPCB Chairperson Reena Gupta and Member Secretary Lavnīt Dubey held a special meeting with Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar Shri Aditya Dachalwal and other officials regarding celebrating a pollution-free Hola Mohalla.

The administration has appealed that during Hola Mohalla this time, motorcycles, tractors and other vehicles should not be driven after removing silencers, and hooliganism and the use of colour and gulal should be avoided. The administration has also sought cooperation from all sections of society to impose a complete ban on single-use plastic and to keep the environment clean and green. Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj, appealed that eliminating pollution is essential to save water, air and earth, and that the mela area should be kept clean. On this occasion, SDM Sukhpal Singh was specially honoured.

Charanjit Rai, Eng. Beerdavinder Singh, Eng. Vipin Kumar, Eng. Rubal Goel, Eng. Amandeep Singh, SDO Arshpreet Kaur, Eng. Charanjit Rai, Jasvir Singh, Jashanjot Singh, Baba Teerath Singh Ji, Manager of Qila Anandgarh Sahib Beant Singh, Gurudwara Loh Langar Baba Jarnail Singh and members of other committees were present.
