Escapee from Patiala Central Jail wanted in UK Murder Case Arrested in Bathinda with illegal Glock .9 mm pistol

Under the directions of Gaurav Yadav, IPS, DGP Punjab and the guidance of Harjeet Singh, IPS, DIG Bathinda Range, Bathinda Police is continuously taking strict action against anti-social elements as part of the ongoing campaign against crime.
In this regard, under the supervision of Dr. Jyoti Yadav, IPS, SSP Bathinda, and the leadership of Jasmeet Singh, PPS, SP (Investigation) Bathinda and Sandeep Singh Bhatti, PPS, DSP (Investigation) Bathinda, a major success has been achieved by the CIA Staff-2 Bathinda arrested one individual and achieved a major success by recovering one illegal Glock .9 mm pistol along with 4 live cartridges (.9 mm) from his possession.
On 05.03.2026, the police party of CIA Staff-2 Bathinda was patrolling in the area of Police Station Civil Lines, Bathinda, when a secret information was received that a person Sher Singh alias Jassa son of Harmander Singh, resident of Waniye Ke, Tehsil Ajnala, District Amritsar Sahib, was roaming near Cantt Road, Bathinda with an illegal pistol. Acting on this information, a case was registered at Police Station Civil Lines, Bathinda, and a search operation was initiated. During the operation, the police team successfully apprehended the accused from Ring Road-1, Bathinda and recovered one illegal Glock 9 mm pistol along with 4 live cartridges (9 mm) from his possession.
During the course of investigation, it came to light that the said accused had previously been involved in a murder case in England. On 16 November 2009, he murdered a girl named Geeta in England and was the main accused in the case. He was sentenced to 22 years of imprisonment and was lodged in HMP Gatree Harborough, Leicestershire England.
In November 2018, the Government of England transferred him back to India (Kapurthala Jail) to serve the remaining period of his sentence.
From there, in April 2021, he was shifted to Central Jail Patiala. On 28.04.2021, the accused escaped from Central Jail Patiala along with his accomplices Inderjit Singh alias Dhiyana, son of Avtar Singh, resident of Village Ranipur Kamboa, PS Rawalpindi, District Kapurthala, and Jaspreet Singh alias Noopi, son of Lakhvir Singh, resident of Village Dadhi, PS Kiratpur Sahib, District Rupnagar. In this regard, a case was registered at PS Tripuri, District Patiala.
Later, Inderjit Singh alias Dhiyana and Jaspreet Singh alias Noopi were arrested, but the accused Sher Singh alias Jassa had remained absconding till now. The accused will be produced before the Court today to obtain police remand for further interrogation. More important revelations are expected during the investigation.
