Chief Minister inaugurates 25th All India Police Water Sports Cluster Championship

Uttrakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami virtually inaugurated the 25th All India Police Water Sports Cluster Championship on Wednesday at the Water Sports and Adventure Institute in Tehri Garhwal. On this occasion, he welcomed and greeted players, officials, and sports enthusiasts from police forces across various states and union territories of the country to Devbhoomi Uttarakhand.
Dhami said that it is a matter of great pride for Uttarakhand that the state has got the opportunity to host this important national event for the first time.
The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the All India Police Sports Control Board, stating that such events not only provide a platform for players to showcase their talent but also play a significant role in giving the state a new identity in the field of adventure sports and tourism.
He mentioned that more than 440 male and female players from 19 teams across the country are participating in the competition, showcasing their abilities in events like canoeing, rowing, and kayaking.
Extending his best wishes to the participants, he said that personnel of police and paramilitary forces play a crucial role in maintaining national security, law and order, and public trust. Therefore, it is extremely important for them to remain physically and mentally fit. He added that sports not only improve fitness but also develop discipline, team spirit, and the ability to work in challenging conditions.
The Chief Minister further said that water sports are highly useful in disaster management, flood relief, river rescue, and coastal security operations. Skills in these sports can often prove life-saving and play a vital role in saving lives during emergencies.
He noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, initiatives like Khelo India and Fit India Movement have strengthened the sports culture in the country and created new enthusiasm among youth.
He added that the state government is continuously working to promote sports and provide better facilities to athletes. Uttarakhand has recently demonstrated its capability by successfully hosting the 38th National Games and is emerging not only as Devbhoomi but also as a land of sports.

He said that modern sports infrastructure is rapidly developing in the state, and efforts are being made to host international-level competitions in the future.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government is committed to the overall development of Uttarakhand and expressed confidence that such events will contribute to the state’s growth, tourism promotion, and the development of sports talent.
On this occasion, several dignitaries including MLA Kishore Upadhyay, District Panchayat President Ishita Sajwan, Municipal Chairman Mohan Singh Rawat, Special Principal Secretary (Sports) Amit Sinha, ADG ITBP Sanjay Gunjyal, IG Northern Frontier ITBP Manu Maharaj, IG CRPF Dinesh Uniyal, IG ITBP Academy Girish Chandra Upadhyay, District Magistrate Neetika Khandelwal, and SSP Shweta Chaubey were present.
