Patiala Police bought Ata ul Ansari , the man who duped Member Parliament from Patiala and Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh wife Preneet Kaur of Rs. 23 lakhs, from Jharkhand on transit remand. A local court remanded all three in eight day police custody. Though the incident happened in Delhi, the bank account of Preneet Kaur is in Patiala from where the money was siphoned off.

During a press brief, SSP Patiala Mandeep Singh Sidhu said that the police have recovered 19 mobile phones and 693 SIM (subscriber identification module) cards from the accused. During preliminary investigation, they confessed that they had been committing online frauds for the past four years. The accused also confessed that they were not aware of the fact that they had duped a parliamentarian “

He further said that the accused had their numbers on Google and other apps, wherein anyone trying to reach the State Bank of India helpline would instead call them. “Once the caller gave them personal information regarding bank and account details, they would siphon off their money through various mobile banking applications; said sidhu.
