ED Raids Premises of LPU Chancellor and Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal

Today, the law enforcement agency Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at the residence and offices of Lovely Professional University (LPU) Chancellor and Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal, just days after he replaced Raghav Chadha as the deputy leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Upper House.
The ED carried out searches at multiple locations linked to Ashok Mittal and his son, including premises in Gurugram and Punjab. Raids were conducted at the MP’s residence, his son’s properties, and a farmhouse.
Mittal is the owner of Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar. Officials suspect financial irregularities related to funds. As part of the investigation, ED teams also reached the university campus in Jalandhar.
As per sources , ED headquarters investigation unit Delhi is conducting searches since Wednesday morning in Lovely Professional Umiversity in Jalandhar and their College of Business and Masters union College of Business in Gurgaon. The searches are being carried out under FEMA. Premises of AAP MP Ashok Mittal is also being covered in searches. All are covered as part of searches on above colleges which are part of same group-Lovely University Group”
According to preliminary inputs, the searches are connected to alleged violations under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). The searches are ongoing, as agencies continue to examine documents and financial records related to the case.
