Capt Amarinder urges govt. employees to withdraw proposed strike

Appealing to the state government employees to withdraw their proposed strike, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has convened a meeting of the Cabinet sub-committee on August 21 to discuss their issues and find a way forward for early resolution.

The Chief Minister has also directed the sub-committee, headed by Local Government Minister Brahm Mohindra, to hold a follow-up meeting subsequently with the representatives of the employees’ associations on August 28 to resolve their pending demands as quickly as possible.

Reiterating his government’s firm commitment to safeguarding the interests of the employees, the Chief Minister urged the employees associations to bear with the state government, which was fully seized of the entire matter, and was working towards early settlement of their pending demands and issues.

The Chief Minister also appealed to the employees’ associations to give up their agitation and call off their proposed strike in larger public interest. He said that it was the bounden duty of the state Government to ensure the overall well-being of all sections of the employees, who were the backbone of the state administration.
