Punjab’s 108 Ambulance Service handles over 1.93 lakh emergencies, strengthening statewide lifeline

The 108 Ambulance Service operated by Zenplus Private Limited continues to play a critical role in delivering timely emergency medical response across Punjab, handling a total of **1,93,698 emergency cases** between April 2025 and March 2026. The data reflects the service’s extensive reach and efficiency in responding to a wide range of emergencies across all districts.
Out of the total cases, 74,570 were medical emergencies, making it the highest reported category, followed by 50,993 pregnancy-related cases, ensuring essential maternal care and safe transportation for expectant mothers. The service also responded to 26,908 road accident cases and 21,881 cardiac emergencies, highlighting its crucial role in life-saving interventions. Additionally, 19,346 cases were categorized under other emergency needs, all attended by trained Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and skilled pilots.
District-wise data further emphasizes the widespread utilization of the service. Ludhiana recorded the highest number of cases at 26,429, followed by Jalandhar with 16,809, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar with 16,284, Amritsar with 14,964, and Patiala with 14,793 cases. Other districts such as Hoshiarpur (10,167), Bathinda (9,663) and Gurdaspur (8,735) also reported significant emergency responses, indicating strong coverage across both urban and rural regions.
Monthly trends show consistent performance, with the highest number of emergencies recorded in August (18,837 cases), followed closely by July (18,186 cases) and September (18,340 cases). Even during lower-demand periods like February, the service handled 14,084 cases, reflecting uninterrupted operations throughout the year.

In addition to emergency response, the service also facilitated 158 deliveries in ambulances, ensuring critical maternal support in transit. Overall, the system served a remarkable 3,177,997 people, reinforcing its position as a dependable healthcare lifeline.
