Iqbal Singh Lalpura, Member of the Parliamentary Board of the Bharatiya Janata Party, strongly criticised Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over his allegations linking the BJP to the recent twin blasts in the state. Lalpura termed the accusations baseless and misleading, stating that the Bhagwant Mann government has completely failed to maintain law and order in Punjab. He said that since Bhagwant Mann assumed office as Chief Minister and Home Minister of Punjab, terrorist and criminal activities have steadily increased across the state.
Lalpura further alleged that Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal had remained in contact with pro Khalistani elements and claimed that Khalistani supporters based abroad had openly made such assertions. He stated that the Punjab government’s intent and policy regarding the state’s security are both under serious question.
He said there was absolutely no basis for Bhagwant Mann’s allegations against the BJP. Challenging the Chief Minister openly, Lalpura stated that if any BJP worker or leader is found involved in such incidents, the party would accept whatever punishment is awarded.
Lalpura also questioned why the real culprits behind the sacrilege incidents of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji have still not been identified or punished. Referring to the Kotkapura incident, he asked why the Bhagwant Mann government had failed to make effective efforts in the High Court to ensure punishment for the accused in sacrilege related cases.

Lalpura stated that during his tenure as Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities, he consistently worked for the rights and welfare of the Sikh community. He said that the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have always adopted a sensitive and supportive approach towards Sikh issues, including action against those accused in the 1984 anti Sikh riots and providing jobs to victim families.
He further claimed that BJP’s success in West Bengal was the result of the “blood and sweat” of party workers. Concluding his statement, Lalpura said that Bhagwant Mann should apologise to the people of Punjab and BJP workers for making irresponsible and baseless allegations against the party.
