Today, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has raided premises at Patiala along with other locations at Mohali, Chandigarh, Kharar in connection with a search operation launched early morning.
As per reports the law enforcement agency has raided the residence of a Punjab government employee at his Sirhind road residence in Patiala. He is a junior engineer, electrical wing. He remained posted in Patiala but later attached to officials posted at Chandigarh. Those in question are powerful officer in the power corridor of Punjab.
When contacted him to know about the ED raid at his Sirhind Road residence in a posh private colony and a location at Bhadson road , he denied it and said “ no raid is conducted.”
As per reports the premier agency has raided the person in real estate business at around 12 different locations in Chandigarh, Mohali, Kharar etc. Those whose premises were searched by the agency are the directors of Altus builders, Suntec builders, ABS Township, Dhir constructions etc.
Earlier in the day, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out raids at the residence of an IT professional, Nitin Gohal near Kharar in Punjab’s Mohali, with sources claiming that Gohal is considered close to an aide of CMO, Punjab. In an interesting incident, when the raid was conducted at Flat No. 906, Western Towers, Sector 127, Chajju Majra in Mohali district, two bags allegedly containing cash were thrown from the building, creating a flutter in the area. Morning walkers reportedly found currency notes scattered around the complex and notified the authorities. ED officials later confiscated the bags and continued the search operation for several hours.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation has uncovered an alleged multi-layered financial fraud involving real estate developers and government officials. According to the probe, the developers reportedly secured Change of Land Use (CLU) certificates through misrepresentation and collusion with officials, allegedly bypassing established urban planning norms. After obtaining the disputed licences, the firms allegedly launched large-scale infrastructure and housing projects in Mohali district, especially in New Chandigarh, attracting investments worth hundreds of crores from unsuspecting buyers and investors.

Officials remained tight-lipped about the nature of the investigation, though sources indicated that the raids were linked to alleged financial irregularities found after the ED raid at cabinet minister’s residence and other premises.
Interacting with the media outside the Golden Temple, Amritsar, chief minister Bhagwant Mann was quick to distance his administration from the unfolding scandal. When questioned about the raids on an associate of his officer on special duty, Rajbir Ghuman, the CM maintained a firm stance of non-involvement. “We have no relation with these raids. The ED officials have come to raid the company of someone there… they (the ED) are doing their work,” Mann said.
The chief minister suggested the investigation might be related to “old matters” or independent business dealings, asserting that the state government remains untainted by the federal probe into the real estate sector.
