Week-Long workshop series on exam stress management successfully conducted at Punjabi University, Patiala

The Student Counselling Centre of Dean Student Welfare Office, Punjabi University, Patiala successfully organized a week-long workshop series on “Exam Stress Management” from May 6th to May 12th, 2026, reaching out extensively to students residing across university hostels.

The initiative was jointly led by Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Sran, Provost, Dr. Jagpreet Kaur, Addl. Provost (Girls) and Dr. Ruby Gupta, Counsellor, Student Counselling Centre, who spearheaded the program with a strong focus on promoting psychological well-being, effective coping strategies, and evidence-based study skills among students during the examination period. The workshops were conducted under the guidance and leadership of the  Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jagdeep Singh.

The programme witnessed coordinated efforts, which ensured smooth implementation across hostels.

Over the course of one week, a total of 14 workshops were successfully conducted, covering 15 hostels within the university campus. The outreach was made possible through the dedicated efforts of eight Mental Health Ambassadors, who actively facilitated sessions and engaged with students, along with the consistent support of hostel wardens. The Mental Health Ambassadors were felicitated with the Letters of Acknowledgement for their noteworthy contribution and efforts by the  Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala, Prof. Jagdeep Singh and Dean, Academic Affairs Prof. Jaswinder Singh Brar during the Valedictory Ceremony at Sri Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan.

The workshops focused on equipping students with practical tools to manage exam-related stress, including time management techniques, cognitive restructuring, relaxation strategies, sleep hygiene, and the importance of balanced nutrition. Interactive discussions and participatory activities ensured that students could openly share their concerns and learn adaptive coping mechanisms in a supportive environment.

The initiative received an encouraging response from students, who appreciated the relevance and practicality of the sessions.
