JGND Punjab State Open University organises Goshti on Dr. Manmohan’s Punjabi Novel ‘Man Pankhi Bhayo’

Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University (JGND PSOU), Patiala, organised a Goshti (academic discussion) on the Punjabi novel ‘Man Pankhi Bhayo’ by the renowned thinker and writer Dr. Manmohan held under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Rattan Singh on 26 May 2026. Event aimed to promote critical literary discourse and connect scholars with contemporary Punjabi writing.

In his presidential address, Prof. (Dr) Rattan Singh emphasised that literature plays a vital role in mirroring societal transformations. He commended the initiative for encouraging deep textual analysis and scholarly engagement within the university community.

The welcome address was given by. Prof. (Dr) Baljit Singh Khehra, Registrar, JGND PSOU. The author and Chief Guest, Dr. Manmohan, shared his insights into the creative journey and core themes of the novel.

Dr. Manjinder Singh, Head, School of Punjabi Studies, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, delivered the keynote address and detailed the narrative and thematic complexities of the book.

This was followed by critical evaluations from speakers Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Chairperson, Dept of Punjabi, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, Dr. Mohan Tyagi, Head, Punjabi Literary Studies, Punjabi University Patiala, and Dr. Praveen Kumar, Centre for Distance and Online Education, Panjab University, Chandigarh, who highlighted the text’s major themes and its relevance in modern Punjabi literature.

On this occasion, the University also released the new book Katha-Kaniyan, mini magazines, and journal. The event was moderated by Dr. Dharminder Singh. Dr. Amarjit Singh, Head, Department of Punjabi, JGND PSOU, Patiala presented the formal vote of thanks.

The event witnessed active participation from faculty, scholars, and writers across Punjab.
