Rape, suicide by Chitkara University student? Authorities denied it;news turned out to be a hoax

“News of rape with a third year nursing student of Chitkara University and suicide by her comes out be fake. No such incident happens in the Chitkara university banur campus” said by the university and police authorities. They further said that students dial emergency number 112, say a female student has committed suicide in her hostel room after being sexually abused.
Rajpura deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Akashdeep Singh Aulakh said that “police received a call on emergency response number 112, in which the callers claimed that that a girl student committed suicide in her hostel room after coming back from outside the university campus, where she had gone with her friend and was sexually abused”
“It was around 9.30 pm on Tuesday night, police vehicle along an ambulance came to the Chitkara university campus. The students were not allowed to come out of their hostel rooms’ said students.
In the morning when thousands of students gathered to know the truth about what was happened last night, why higher police officials came, why ambulance came without hooter, the university authorities said that two students of the university had made a prank call to police control room. Taking no time, police along with ambulance came to the university campus and started investigation.
The whole day students protested to know the truth. As per the police, two students made a prank call and were identified. Their parents were also called by the authorities and informed the misdeeds of their wards.

Students were adamant to know if nothing has happened then why police sealed the room, why senior police officials came on prank call, why students were locked in their rooms on Tuesday night, why four students were taken away by the police etc etc. But they lifted the protest in the evening after police and college authorities briefed them about the hoax call.
Later iIn the evening Registrar of Chitkara University Dr SC Sharma gave official clarification and denied the rape and suicide incident.As per his statement” This refers to queries made at University office today from various Media houses regarding rumors about some incidents in University campus yesterday. This to make clear that there was no such incident in University campus happened yesterday. Some students had made prank call to police yesterday night which was investigated by police and found incorrect.
Police have taken two students’ statement in which both have admitted that they called the police and informed / narrated their own version which was not factual.
Both the students’ parents also came to University and regretted their wards mischievous act.”
