CAA protest-Jamia Milia Islamia University to lodge FIR against police; 200 students injured-VC

Today Nazma Akhtar, Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia University conducted a press conference to clear the air about the severe clash that broke out between the Delhi Police and university students on Sunday over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA)

She said that Jamia Millia Islamia University will lodge a FIR againt the Delhi police action. Delhi police has entered in the university in an illegal manner at beaten up the students, broke the infrastructure of the university. Students were reading in the library and police entered their, beaten up the students, damage the university property. The police have done atrocities on the students.

She further informed that around 200 students were injured in this clash and no one is dead, its rumor only. Out of these 200, maximum students injured in the library where police beaten up them and many students sustained severe injuries. Police arrested some of the students, but the university authorities got released them from police clutches. Students, faculty, staff were mentally harassed by the Delhi police.

She said if anything happens outside the university campus, why to blame the university. There are many entrances from where outsiders can enter the university. Even when a Metro station was made, a bypass was declared but till date nothing has happened.

Registrar of the university said, police made no distinction between the students and the outsiders and started beating their students. For their action, university has to pay the price as a bad name came to the university

Earlier the students of Jamia Millia Islamia were holding a “peaceful” protest against the amended Citizenship Act, which grants citizenship to Sikhs, Buddhists, Christians, Parsis, Hindus — but not Muslims — who had illegally entered India from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

“We are also doing everything possible at our end. Real miscreants who caused violence should be identified and punished,” Kejriwal said in another tweet.

“An unbiased investigation should be launched into what these people in uniform were putting in the buses from white and yellow cans before they were set ablaze. At whose behest was this done?” Manish Sisodia said a tweet.
