Surjit Singh Rakhra, an Akali stalwart and former Cabinet Minister in Prakash Singh Badal led SAD-BJP Govt.,is now appointed as Hon. Secy. of Khalsa College Patiala governing body.

Rakhra was given a warm welcome at Khalsa College Patiala by the faculty and staff. On this occasion Rakhra thanked Bhai Gobind Singh Longowal, President SGPC for his appointment and said that this would be an opportunity to work for the betterment for the college.  He appreciated the pro activeness and dedication of its staff members which has placed the college on international pedestal. He shared that an M.O.U. would be signed shortly with Wisconsin University, USA and the deserving students would be given scholarships to study there. He expressed happiness that the college was providing skill education to its students. He was of the view that the progress of any country depends upon its educated citizens and the college has carved a niche for itself in providing quality education.

College Principal Dr. Dharminder Singh Ubha, congratulated Rakhra on his appointment as Honorary Secretary. He said that with him at the helm, the college would touch new horizons. He assured that all faculty members will work more efficiently to bring the college among the top ten colleges of the country.

He also shared that personalities of great credibility like Balwinder Singh Bhundar, M.P, Darshan Singh Dhaliwal, Secretary Education SGPC and Prof. Jamsheed Ali Khan been inducted as members in the Governing Body which would pave the way for the college a smooth sail.

Former mayor Vishnoo Sharma made a graceful presence. Dr. Talochan Singh Mahajan, Vice Principal proposed a vote of thanks. Dr. Jasleen Kaur, Deputy Principal, Vice Principals Prof. Sunil Kumar Mehta, Dr. Kuldeep Singh and Dr. Ravinderjit Singh, Controller Examinations graced the occasion. Senior faculty of Khalsa College Patiala was also present.
