DC Patiala appeals for closure of meat shops from December 26

Deputy Commissioner of Patiala has appealed the owners of meat shops in Patiala to close their shops during the annual Shaheedi Jor Mel at Fatehgarh Sahib which will be commemorated from December 26 to 28 in the memory of younger Sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh — Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh — who were buried alive in a brick wall at Fatehgarh sahib.

Despite cold weather, lakhs of devotees pay homage to the young sahibzadas of Guru Gobing Singh and their grandmother Mata Gujri at Gurdwara , Fatehgarh Sahib, Gurudwara Thanda Burj, Gurudwara Jyoti Swarup along with other Gurudwaras of Fatehgarh Sahib, where they were prisoned, burried alive by Muguls. The residents were already demanding the restoration of the solemnity of this historic event.

“As the sentiments of people were attached with this annual religious affair, so I appeal the meat shop owners to close their meat shops during these three days of annual congregation “said Deputy Commissioner Patiala.

“The event will be completely religious in nature and wine shops within 3-km radius of gurdwaras, gambling stalls, circuses, swings and other sources of entertainment had already been banned, said Amrit Kaur Gill, Deputy Commissioner, Fatehgarh Sahib.

“DC Patiala appeals for closure of meat shops during Shaheedi Jor Mel is a good initiative taken by the administration keeping the sentiments of lakhs of devotees” said Jagampal Singh a student of Punjabi University, Patiala
