In a faux pas; Mohali administration fail to differentiate between state level –district level function. In a press release issued by the SAS Nagar district administration that “Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh will hoist the national flag during the state level Republic Day function at Government College, Phase-6, Mohali, stated Deputy Commissioner SAS Nagar Girish Dalayan, while presiding over the meeting with district officers and BSF officials to review the preparations of the function, here at District Administrative Complex.”

Similarly the Independence Day function is celebrated as state level function where the Chief Minister unfurls the national flag.As per Mohali administration Chief Minister of Punjab Capt Amarinder Singh will unfurl the National flag on Republic day. So its not a state level function” said Gurjit Singh, a former executive with English national daily newspaper.
As per the press release, while presiding the officers, Dayalan informed that it was a matter of great pleasure that the state level function is being held in the district, so any dereliction of duty and negligence in arrangements will not be tolerated. “Officers entrusted with any responsibility should discharge their duty with utmost diligence so that the event could be a success”, he said, directing district heads of various departments to ensure that proper arrangements for the function must be taken place well in advance, for which better coordination amongst the department is must.
Dayalan further said that colourful cultural programs based on nationalism, patriotic theme, local folks and culture would also be presented by the students and function will end with the prize distribution ceremony. He directed the heads of institutions to ensure that each performance should be prepared meticulously for igniting the spirit of patriotism and nationalism amongst the audiences in the stadium during the celebrations.
The issue pertaining to present tableaus during function was also discussed thoroughly. Giving his suggestions to ensure uniformity in tableaus, the Deputy Commissioner said that the concept for the showcasing of items should be finalized within two days. He asked Deputy District Education Officer to enhance the participation of school children in big way.
ADC (G) Sakshi Sawhney, ADC (D) Aashika Jain, Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Kesar Singh, RTA Secretary Sukhwinder Kumar, District Sports Officer Surjeet Singh, Divisional Forest Officer Gur Aman Singh, Civil Surgeon Dr. Manjit Singh and representatives of various departments were present in the meeting.
