VC Punjabi University virtually discussed admissions of external centres

Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala Dr. B. S.Ghuman held an online meeting with the all the Heads/In-charges/Principals of its Neighbourhood Campuses/ Regional Centres/ Constituent Colleges (External Centres) and the Admission Coordination Committee here today to discuss and plan the ongoing and future steps to speed up the admission process for the new session .

While addressing them in this important meeting Prof B.S Ghuman appreciated the initiatives and measures taken up by various  centres to streamline the admission process amidst the difficult situation arising due to COVID -19. He also appreciated the members of the Admission Coordination Committee of  the University, who are making every effort to increase admissions. He said that despite the challenges due to Covid-19 period, we need to adopt a well planned admission strategy to facilitate the whole admission process. He further added that interest shown by students at all these centres of Punjabi University is very encouraging.

He said that we should use all possible social media platforms to reach the students and their parents with a well-designed strategy so that they can get admission in the desired courses. He said that we should all remember that we have to work hard in every direction to further strengthen our NIRF Rankings. Today we have reached at 64th Rank and become number one University in Punjab as per the rankings of Education World. This has been made possible due to our hard work. We must have better and better strategies in place to scale new heights as we are one of the leading Centres of Higher learning in the region.

Dean  Academic Affairs Dr. Gurdeep Singh Batra said that this time, some new decisions have been taken by the university, with regard to the convenience of admission students, including the introduction of some new courses. This time those who have already done an M.A.  can also take admission in another post graduation of other subject. This is an important decision for the students willing to pursue another postgraduation. Admissions are  expected to increase this year, he said.

Dr. Pushpinder Singh Gill, Dean (External Centres) while addressing the Heads of all the Centres, said that as this is peak time of admissions, we all need to be on toes to reach the students in best possible way so that we facilitate the  enrollment of students in large numbers. The meeting was also attended by the members of the Admission Coordination Committee 2020, Dr. B.B.Singla (Convener), Dr. Inderpreet Sandhu (Coordinator) and Dr. Satinder Kumar (Coordinator). There have been  regular online meetings with all the centres to conduct the admission process in a more effective and efficient manner and every effort is being made to address the difficulties faced by these centres, the Committee informed.
