Punjab Religious,Historical cities to undergo transformation

NEW DELHI:The Detailed Project Reports (DPR) worth Rs. 99 crore prepared by the Punjab Government with regard to the beautification of the historical cities and ensuring adequate facilities for the tourists as well as devotees, were today accorded in principle approval in the mission directorate meeting of the Union Tourism Ministry.

The Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister, Punjab, Navjot Singh Sidhu is the first minister from Punjab to take part in the meeting of mission directorate. In the meeting with the Joint Secretary of the Union Tourism Ministry Suman Billa, the high level delegation from Punjab included apart from Sidhu, Secretary Tourism, Punjab Vikas Pratap, Director Shivdular Singh Dhillon and the Advisor to the minister-Angad Singh Sohi.

Disclosing this today, an official spokesman said that due to the untiring efforts of Sidhu the Union Government had approved the project for the religious and historical cities of Punjab. Divulging more, the spokesman said that the Punjab Government prepared the Detailed Project Reports regarding the project and presented them for the first time in the mission directorate meeting for approval. These reports have been given in principle approval by the Union Ministry with partial modifications.

Religious & Historical Cities of Punjab to Undergo Transformation

With the in principle to these projects the religious cities of Punjab namely Sri Anandpur Sahib, Fatehgarh Sahib and Sri Chamkaur Sahib, Hussainiwala and Khatkar Kalan (Connected with Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh), Saragarhi Memorial at Ferozepur, Jallianwala Bagh at Amritsar and Kalanaur (where Mughal Emperor Akbar was coronated) would undergo transformation.
