GCG, NTAS organise Beti Bachao-Beti Padao Theatre Fest
Patiala -75 year old historic Govt. College for Girls and National Theatre Arts Society (NTAS) organised “Beti Bachao-Beti Padao” Theatre Festival at House-Packed Auditorium of the college, here.
The Chief guest, noted scholar of International Affairs, Dr. Sawraj Singh, global thinker awardee, lauded Principal Dr. Chiranjiv Kaur for college’s historic achievements, good results and promoting curricular extra activities. He congratulated NTAS’ director duo Pran Sabharwal-Sunita Sabharwal for their six decade relentless theatre services towards promoting Women Empowerment and spreading Indian philosophy in India and abroad.
He claimed that Indian woman is far far better as compared to that of the west in the matter of Women equality, Women empowerment and women emancipation. He stressed the need to eradicate menace of drugs and foeticide and advocated the need to educate girls to treat them at par with boys.
College Principal Dr. Chiranjiv Kaur, dwelling upon college activities, achievements, credited Prof. Kawaljeet Kaur, head Punjabi department for successfully organising festival in cooperation with Red Cross wing, NSS and NTAS. She, Prof. Kawaljeet Kaur along with college councilors honoured the chief guest Dr. Sawraj Singh, wife Gurinder Kaur, Architect Jagmohan Singh Bedi and presented Life time achievement award to Pran Sabharwal – wife Sunita Sabharwal for their life long dedication and excellence.
She and chief guest Dr. Sawraj Singh gave away cash awards to all artists and applauded their performance in value-based plays including “Lok Raaj Ya Vanraaj”, “Sukki-kukh”, Saian Kite Wadhian Kite aca Patangbaaz and “Ik Bechari Maa”, besides folk songs, dances and Bhand Naqlaan. Ntasians, Sabharwals, organising secretary Architect Jagmohan Bedi presented award of honour, memento, shawl and gifts to the dignitaries. NTAS president G.S. Kakkar expressed gratitude to dignitaries and associates like socialite duo Billu Bedi, wife Amarbir Kaur Bedi Patiala Municipal Corporation Councilor Ward No. 56 and Madam Gurpreet Kaur manager SBI, YPS Branch for their cooperation and love for theatre.
