World Dance Day celebrated at Government College for Girls, Patiala

A special event dedicated to World Dance Day was organised by the Dance Department of the college in collaboration with ‘Sangeet Natyam’ at Government College for Girls, Patiala.The program was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, College Principal Dr. Swinder Singh Rekhi, along with Special Guests Dr. Daisy Walia and Dr. Jagmohan Sharma, the professors of the Dance Department, and the Head of Sangeet Natyam, Dr. Lakhwinder Nahar , among others, by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
In his address, Dr. Rekhi described World Dance Day as a celebration of expression, tradition, discipline, and the unity of humanity. He congratulated the Dance Department for organising the program. The founder and former Head of the Dance Department, Dr. Daisy Walia, and Dr. Jagmohan Sharma attended the event as Special Guests.
At the beginning of the program, young artists presented dance performances. Davneet Kaur performed the sitar, accompanied by tabla player Mankaran Singh and others. Mohit captivated the audience with his flute performance, supported by his colleagues.

The program was compered by Prof. Dr. Kulwinder Kaur of the Dance Department. The Head of the Department, Dr. Pushpinder Kaur, and Professor Dr. Seema Sharma were also present.
In the final phase of the program, college faculty Prof. Jasmine and the students of the Dance Department delivered wonderful dance performances.During the program, renowned artists and guests—Dr. Daisy Walia, Dr. Jagmohan Sharma, Madhueshwar Ji, Dr. Jeevan Bala, Professor of Music Dr. Rajinder Ji, Shubhjit, and Beti Shaan—as well as all participating artists were honoured.
