Ensure Welfare schemes reach root level-Shergill

Patiala- The senior advisor to CM Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh and Punjab government’s flagship scheme Guardians Of Governance’s senior vice chairman Lt Gen (retd) T S SHergill, PVSM today said that the main motive of this scheme is to create sense of responsibility and honesty in common man as well as government officers and employees so that better governance can be awarded to the real beneficiaries of various schemes.

Shergill today convened a meeting with the district administration as well as 167 Guardians of Governance. He said that under the first phase of this scheme 151 GoGs have been deputed in the district. For the past two and a half months, these guardians are working with the district administration to solve problems of people at grass root level in a commendable way.

Shergill stated that the GoGs are keeping an eagle’s eye on around 20 various schemes of the government. Independent reports about these schemes are being sent to the Chief Minister’s office through a computer application whose data is sent to control room 24 hours. The Chief Minister himself monitors this entire project and the concerned Deputy Commissioners to get information about the same. This has also enabled people at the ground level to give their feedback regarding the same.

Shergill stated that the main aim of this scheme was to control corruption, ensure proper use of grants and ensure that the benefits reach actual beneficiaries. So that Punjab can be number 1 state yet again in country. He added that GoGs should ensure that information being provided is factually correct and proper action is taken so that common man does not have to run from pillar to post to get things done. He called upon the GoGs to dedicate their retired lives to the cause of people.

In the meeting SSP Dr. S Bhupathi, Assistant Commissioner General Suba Singh, SDM Patiala Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, SDM Rajpura Sanjeev Kumar, SDM Samana Arvind Kumar, SDM Nabha Jashnapreet Kaur, SDM Patran Kala Ram Kansal, Deputy Director Local Bodies Jeevan Jot Kaur, Civil Surgeon Dr. Harish Malhotra, Col. NS Sidhu, DSP Sukh Amrit Singh Randhawa, Deputy Directorof the Defense Services Welfare Com. B.S. Virk, District Revenue Officer Harsharnjit Singh and officers of other departments were also present.
