A One Day National Conference on “Unlocking Aatmanirbhar Bharat through NEP-2020”was conducted through online mode by National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh on 27th November 2020 at NITTTR, Sector 26, Chandigarh.

The areas covered in the conference were : Paradigm shift of curriculum design for institution integration to boost Atmanirbhar Bharat in light of NEP-2020, Inter/Multi-disciplinary programs to boost the research requirements of Atmanirbhar Bharat, Integration of different engineering disciplines for Atmanirbhar Bharat, Rural Atmanirbharta: Role of Engineering Colleges through NEP, Role of NEP in growth of MSME/Digital manufacturing to boost Atmanirbhar Bharat, NEP inspired entrepreneurship approach in student/institution level mind change to boost Atmanirbhar Bharat

A total of 21 papers were selected for oral presentation from various papers received for the conference after peer review process. four technical sessions held during the one day conference in which participants / teams from various institutions across India presented their works and more than 45 experts/delegates/participants were attended the conference.

The Chief Guest for the inaugural ceremony of the conference was  Harbhajan Singh, Former Director of Honda; and the Guests of Honour was Sanjeev Gupta, Retired General Manager  SML, Ropar

At the onset of the Conference, Prof. Rupinder Singh, Conference Organizing Chair and Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department, NITTTR, Chandigarh briefed everyone about the objectives of the conference highlighting the various aspects of Aatmanirbhar Bharat through NEP-2020.

In his inaugural address, the Chief Guest – Harbhajan Singh, Former Director of Honda highlighted his own motivational journey of life in which he had started his career from the bottom  in Tata steel and had grown upto the level of director in the same organization. He emphasized upon the cost,  quality competitiveness, waste reduction in manufacturing, respect the skilled workers for atmanirbhar bharat. He raised the issue of mushrooming of Engineering colleges with inadequate quality of engineering education, less in depth knowledge being impart to the students and accordingly the work being carried out with inefficiency, insincere attitude towards work of employee. Thus change of attitude and mindset is needed, He said that NEP has been formulated with appropriate content

Sanjeev Gupta, Retired GM SML, Ropar, Guests of Honor during the inaugural ceremonies of the conference highlighted the need of increase of research and Development in India. He emphasized that the time has come when we should think of reducing import and increase exports, focus on increasing manufacturing in view of atmanirbhar bharat.

In his inaugural address  Dr. S.S. Pattnaik, Director, NITTTR, Chandigarh told how this conference theme of unlocking atmanirbhar bharat through NEP 2020 was coined.  Dr. Pattnaik emphasized on the vocal for local for Ludhiana industries a hub of MSMEs.  The institute is looking forward to the Industry institute meet with Ludhiana industries in the near future. This conference in a follow-up of the chain of events that have been conducted by the institute in the past five months on New education Policy and Atmanirbhar Bharat. NITTTR Chandigarh has been the key educational consultant for providing educational products and is also working towards solving the NGT requirement of serious environmental hazards.
