Union home minister Amit Shah has extended an invitation to fifteen farmer unions, who were protesting at Delhi border, against the newly passed agriculture bills, for meeting at 7:00 pm today.
“We have a meeting with the Home Minister at 7 pm today. We are going to Singhu Border now and from there we will go to the Home Minister,” Rakesh Tikait, spokesperson of the Bharatiya Kisan Union
Now the farmers will decide, that are they going to meet Shah, a day before their scheduled meeting for tomorrow with the group of ministers (GoM) or not?
In the last 5th round of meeting, the Union government proposed to hold a meeting on December 9 with representatives of protesting farmers after that round also ended in a deadlock.
Sources had said the government is not interested in rolling back the farm bills and proposed another round of meeting as it sought some time from the unions to present a concrete proposal after further consultations within the government. This came evident from agriculture minister Narinder Singh Tomar’s latest tweet, tweeted after the farmers started their Bharat Bandh call.

Farmers want the Narendra Modi government to revoke three laws approved by Parliament in September. The laws essentially change the way India’s farmers do business by creating free markets to compete with a network of government-controlled agricultural markets.
