Convocation-Central University of Punjab to confer degrees to foreign national students

The Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB) will organise its 6th Convocation on virtual mode through Video Conferencing and LIVE Streaming platform on .5th January 2021 due to the current pandemic situation and restrictions associated with it. During the 6th Convocation Ceremony, a total of 567 students who have passed the Masters and Ph.D. Programs in 2019-20 Academic Sessions will be conferred degrees via online mode. Chancellor of the University Padma Bhushan Prof. S.S. Johl will preside over the ceremony. Padma Vibhushan Dr. K. Kasturiranjan, Emeritus Professor, National Institute of Advanced Studies, Indian Institute of Science Campus, Bangalore will grace the Convocation Ceremony as Chief Guest and will deliver the Convocation Address.
While making the announcement to conduct CUPB 6th Convocation through online mode, Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari said that CUPB has timely organised its previous Convocation Programs and presently there is no pending backlog. He added, amid prevailing COVID-19 pandemic situation, the University Authorities has decided to conduct this Convocation Ceremony as per existing academic calendar via online mode to ensure that our students could receive their degrees in time. He emphasized that organising this Convocation ‘Virtually’ is a step towards optimum utilisation of ICT in education during such challenging times, and it would be a unique experience for everyone.

Kanwal Pal Singh Mundra, Registrar & Controller of Examination, stated that the sixth edition of CUPB Convocation will be different as this time, the event is being organised in high-brid mode. He informed that the ceremony will take place at CUPB Campus, VPO Ghudda, Dist. Bathinda, in the illustrious presence of Chancellor Prof. S.S. Johl, & the degree recipients will join this program online.
While sharing details of degree recipients, he informed that out of 567 degree recipients, four degrees recipients will be foreign national students of Afghanistan who will be conferred with PG Degree by Central University of Punjab.These International students did MBA in Agriculture, MA in political science, M.Tech in computer science technology and M.Sc Physics from the university.
He added that Convocation is the special day in the life of a student as it is related to celebrating their academic achievements and our faculty & staff members are working hard to make this virtual celebration memorable. The LIVE streaming of this program will be done on CUPB Official You-Tube Channel.
