Zirakpur-Bathinda highway to be inaugurated on 14 May
Bathinda/Chandigarh- “The Union Minister for Roads and Surface Transport Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate the Zirakpur-Bathinda (National Highway 7) and Sri Amritsar Sahib-Bathinda roads(National Highway 54),on May 14, disclosed by Minister for Public Works Department (PWD) Punjab Vijay Inder Singla. He said that Chief Minister Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh will preside over function.
Singla stated that the 216.35 kms long Zirakpur-Bathinda stretch has been laid at a cost of Rs 3188.70 cr, while the Sri Amritsar Sahib-Bathinda stretch of 174.64 kms has been laid at a cost of Rs 2894.00 cr.
He added that 216.35 kms long Zirakpur-Patiala-Sangrur-Barnala-Bathinda section includes 2 railway over bridges and 16 fly overs. Similarly, the project has one major bridge, 40 small bridges and 7 foot over bridges constructed in its way. The road also has 32 major junctions and 212 smaller junctions for traffif de-congestion. It has 138.33 km long service road and equally long RCC drain.
He stated that similarly, the Sri Amritsar Sahib-Harike-Makhu-Zira-Talwandi-Faridkot-Kotkapura-Bathinda stretch of National Highway 54 has 3 railway over bridges and 5 fly overs. The stretch also includes 3 big bridges, 53 small bridges and one foot over bridge. 44.335 km long service lane has been laid along with 72.382 kms long RCC drain. Project includes 31 major junctions and 171 small junctions.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Bathinda Diprava Lakra today convened a meeting to foresee arrangements for the inaugural function being held at the Thermal Grounds, Bathinda. He assigned duties for the event to officers and employees. ADC Sakshi Sawhney, SDM Bathinda Balwinder Singh, SE PWD MS Chattha, XEN division no 1 Mr Kulbir Singh, XEN div no 2 Neeraj Bhandari, tehsildar Bathinda Sukhbir Singh and other officers were also present.
