Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu, a MD (Gynecology/ Obstetrics) and Ex Chief Parliamentary Secretary Health and Family welfare, Punjab and wife of fire brand congress MLA Navjot Singh Sidhu ,has written a request letter to the Principal Secretary, Health and Family welfare, Punjab and offer to join to serve the people of Punjab during the ongoing health crisis, prevailing to Covid pandemic.
In a letter she wrote “I, Dr Navjot kaur Sidhu, MD Gynecology/ Obstetrics(PCMS-5321) took premature retirement in 2012 to fight elections from Amritsar, as MLA. Looking at the present grave situation due to Covid 19 ,now, I would like to join duty to serve the people of my state, during this health crisis. I am presently residing in Patiala and would like to be allotted duty wherein I could be of help to the state.”
Being on government duty, I will not be taking part in any political activity, also I have no political post presently.
She also requested the official to “keep her seniority in mind before allotting her any role”.
As per available information, his proposal to serve the people of Punjab in this Covid pandemic has been rejected by the department.
When contacted the Principal Secretary health and family welfare Punjab, Hussan Lal, he didn’t responded to telephone call and what’s app message.
When contacted Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu, she said ‘she has not received any positive response from them. Health minister had told me that they will inform me. But ,still i’m waiting.”
Insider says, her proposal to serve the people in this pandemic has been rejected due to the ongoing tussle between the state chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh and her husband- Navjot Singh Sidhu. Otherwise the govt is hiring the former, retired doctors to cope up with the situation. Moreover, when she had already declared that she won’t take part in any political activity and holds no political posts, there is no point left to reject her offer. If she indulges in any political or anti government activities, the govt has the authority to cancel her appointment.
