Health deptt to play major role under Tandrust Punjab mission:DC

Barnala- Under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), as many as 226 students of Anganwadi Centers and schools of Barnala district have been provided free treatment. While disclosing this information Deputy Commissioner Barnala Dharam Pal Gupta, said that RBSK has been aimed at providing free treatment for 30 diseases, including birth defects such as developmental delay, congenital heart diseases and disability or other deficiencies, to children aged between 0 and 18 years. He added that special teams of health department have screened as many as 20,834 students of various Anganwadi Centers, government and government aided schools.

Gupta said that district administration has been committed to provide better health facilities to citizens. He added that Punjab Government has also initiated ‘Tandrust Punjab’ mission to improve health standards and also to develop healthy, hygienic and pollution free atmosphere for the residents of the state. Mr. Gupta said that health department has also a major role to play to give the best of life to common people and in this regard, directions have already been issued to officials of health department at Barnala.

Civil Surgeon Barnala Dr. Jugal Kishore said that the teams of RBSK Ayurvedic Medical Officers have screened the 10,036 students of 227 Anganwadi Centers and 10,798 students of 60 government and aided schools of the district. He added that 12 students have been identified suffering from congenital heart diseases and three of them have been provided free treatment and one was under observation at Fortis Hospital Mohali. He said that remaining 8 were also under treatment at PGI Chandigarh, DMC Ludhiana and CMC Ludhiana.

Dr. Jugal Kishore said that as many as 214 students have also been given free treatment for various diseases under RBSK at various medical colleges and hospitals in Patiala, Faridkot, Barnala, Dhanaula, Tapa and Mehal Kalan. He added that health department has also been administering tablets of Iron-Folic acid in Anganwadi Centers and Government and aided schools. He said that RBSK teams were also making the students aware of hygiene, balanced diet and vector borne diseases.
