Exemplary work by a Trust in difficult times of Covid, economic slowdown & farmer’s agitation

Dr Harsh Charitable Trust, felicitated by the Vice President of India and included among the top 100 NGOs of India , running since 2008 has been in the forefront of alleviating the tragic lives of poor girls of Punjab. Dr Harshindar Kaurhttp://www.drharshindarkaurpatiala.com/Charitable_Trust.html ,eminent pediatrician of Patiala is the president of the trust while her husband, Dr Gurpal Singh Sachdeva, consultant physician and Assistant Professor in Rajindra hospital is the honorary secretary.

The couple is devoted to social causes and they have been instrumental in providing succor to 425 poor and orphan girls from all corners of Punjab. After the farmer agitation the trust has included 22 girls who have lost their fathers in the agitation or serious illness. These girls study in private schools of their choice and the trust pays for their education through cheques that are directly submitted into the account of the school. It is worthwhile to mention that the Trust was felicitated by the Vice President of India for exemplary service in the social sector field.

Dr Harshindar Kaur is also the recipient of two state awards by the Government of Punjab She was also honoured by the President of India and included among the Top 100 women achievers of India and given the title of steel woman of India. She has also been felicitated in the United Nations,Geneva and in the parliaments of California,Ottawa ,Australia and New South Wales.

Recently the trust has included 4 more girls from the border area of Gurdaspur, two of whom are orphans.

Exemplary work by a Trust in difficult times of Covid, economic slowdown & farmer’s agitation. Both of the doctors are Covid Warriors and have put in their own resources to aid these girls other than some support from benefactors from India and abroad .

Girls from Gurdaspur ,Ludhiana,Pathankot,Nangal ,Ferozepur,Ropar ,Jalandhar and Patiala are the beneficiaries of the trust. Last month 6 more girls of farmers who committed suicide due to farm distress have been included
