Another ‘mysterious’ blast rocks Amritsar; police denies any terrorist angle

Today, an early morning blast causes panic in the holy city of Amritsar.

The blast occurred on Heritage Street on the way to the Golden Temple, around the same place where a blast had taken place on Saturday. No one was injured.

Soon after receiving information, a police , forensic team reached the spot and started investigation. Later the director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav also reached Amritsar.

As per police official it’s a low intensity explosion. No shrapnel’s or anything dangerous is used in the explosive device.

“DGP Gaurav Yadav visited the spot and denies “any terrorists angle into the blasts while adding that it was a low intensity explosive in a container. He “there was no detonator used in both blasts and it was handiwork of some unknown miscreants apparently to create panic.” He said investigations were under progress to identify the suspects and motive behind it.

It looks like someone wants to disturb the peace and harmony of the state. But, Punjab police is capable enough to maintain the peace, harmony, brotherhood in the state” said DGP Gaurav Yadav.

At the time of this incident no major rush was there and less number of tourists and devotees were strolling on the Heritage Street. The incident happened at around 6.30 am. The blast took place near a parking lot in front of Saragarhi Sarai.

Panic gripped locals as a loud explosion was heard late Saturday night. After the saturday night incident, a police official had said that the ‘blast’ apparently occurred in a chimney of a restaurant at the Heritage Street. At that time also, he had said that further investigations were under way.
