7 years old death; parents seek action against drainage deptt contractor for negligence

Parents of seven years old Aman who accidentally died two days ago at a construction site of chotti nadi has demanded an action against the contractor and drainage wing officials for negligence of duty.

In a complaint to SHO Kotwali police station Patiala, Roshni mother of the deceased seven year old Aman’s mother said “that on 10.10.2021 at around 4.00 pm my son Aman was passing through Chhoti naddi and suddenly my son lost his control and accidentally fell into the chotti nadi. My son died as dirty water was standing in the chotti nadi and that dirty water got stuck in his lungs and he died by suffocation.

She further added that “the accident site has reflectors, no barbed wire, simple wire, construction site signage; no barricading was done to alert the passer bys about the ongoing construction at the site. Had the contractor, officials made an elaborate arrangements, this mishappening may not have occurred.”

When contacted the SHO Kotwali Police station Patiala, Harmanpreet Singh  Cheema , he said “ we had already received the complaint from the aggrieved parents and had already forwarded the application to the deputy commissioner to seek his permission for the post mortem, as the family had buried the child. The civil administration will appoint a tehsildar , under whose supervision we will extract the body. Then we will conduct a postmortem of the dead body of the boy, to know the cause of the death. After the post mortem report we will decide the further course of action.”

On October 10,2021 a seven year-old child Aman died due to drowning in the water accumulated due to the development project of a Chotti Nadi. The incident took place near the new bridge built near the Bhootnath temple at around 4 pm on Sunday. Seeing the dead body of the drowned child, the mother ran away and pulled it out, but by then the child had died. The child was a resident of Rodi Kut Mohalla. The child’s father, Roshan, works as a laborer.
