Highly secure Indian currency counterfeit unit busted by Patiala police

Patiala Police on Monday claimed to have busted a gang involved in manufacturing of fake currency and arrested three persons, with counterfeit notes to the tune of Rs 8.40 lakh.

The accused who are arrested by the Patiala police includes Harpreet Singh alias Sunny resident of Dogra Mohalla, Patiala, Gautam kumar resident of Jattan wala Chauntra, Patiala and Krishna, New Malwa colony, Patiala. One Mohit Mehta is absconding.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Varun Sharma said they also recovered high quality printer, imported paper used in making the fake currency from their possession. There is little difference between the notes they made and the genuine ones. These fake notes have most of the high security features that have in an original currency including the hologram on Mahatma Gandhi, a RBI strip etc. They have already used these notes at petrol pumps, dhabas as shopkeepers could easily be cheated with such bills.

SSP Sharma added that under the command of SP City Sarfraz Alam, DSP City 1 Sanjeev Singla, SHO Kotwali Sukhwinder Singh and SHO Tripuri PS Bajwa a police team conducted a raid and arrested the suspects. During interrogation, it came to the fore that Harpreet Singh alias Sunny a 12th pass had formed the gang.

Sharma added that interestingly all the three accused arrested are 12th pass and posses no technical degree. They used their mind on wrong , illegal things and are now behind the bars.

“We have procured police remand of the suspects and further probe to ascertain the roles of other suspects and places where they would use this currency would be identified,” he stated.

Highly secure Indian currency counterfeit unit busted by Patiala police. During interrogation, it came to the fore that the accused, who was earlier involved in such cases, had been booked by the Ambala police in similar case.
