17th Khalsai Khed Utsav begins; 5000 students from 36 colleges are participating

The 17th Khalsai Khed Utsav of Higher Educational Institutions of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Sri Amritsar Sahib got off to a splendid start at Mata Gujri College Fatehgarh Sahib with Bibi Jagir Kaur, President of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Amritsar as the Chief Guest.
About 5000 students from 36 different educational institutes are participating in various sports like Table Tennis, Weight lifting, Basketball, Chess, Gatka, Volleyball, Athletics, Hockey, Handball, Kabaddi etc. in this sports festival.
Director Principal Dr. Kashmir Singh welcomed the President of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Bibi Jagir Kaur on her arrival at the College.
The Chief Guest Bibi Jagir Kaur told about commendable contribution being made by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee in the field of propagation of religion and education.
Sukhminder Singh, Secretary Education, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee said that students should set the goals of humanity in their student life and strive to achieve them at all time
Speaking on the occasion, Jagdeep Singh Cheema, President Shiromani Akali Dal (Rural), District Fatehgarh Sahib and Honorary Secretary, College Governing Body said that Mata Gujri College has been rendering invaluable services in the field of education and also in sports and cultural activities.
On this occasion, Simarjit Singh, Secretary, Dharam Prachar Committee, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Avtar Singh Riya, Member Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Satwinder Singh Tohra, Member Interim Committee, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Ajmer Singh Khera, Member Interim Committee, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Karnail Singh Panjoli, Member, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Dr. Gurmohan Singh, Former Vice Chancellor, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Dr. Dharminder Singh Ubha, Principal, Khalsa College, Patiala were also present. The role of stage management was played by Dr. Bikramjit Singh, Prof. Anupreet Singh Tiwana, Dr. Manmohan Kaur, Dr. Gurbaj Singh.
