Punjab’s largest thermal plant TSPL develops Miyawaki mini forest

Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL), the largest thermal power plant in Punjab, has developed a mini forest via Miyawaki technique in perron village, Mansa.

Pankaj Sharma, COO – TSPL inaugurated the mini forest in presence of other senior leaders of TSPL.

Miyawaki is a plantation technique that boosts the growth of trees by ten times and provides thirty times denser green cover by planting native trees close to each other. This mini forest named – ‘Baba Labhdas mini forest’ consists of 5000 saplings from 51 diverse flora species covering 1600 sqm of land at Perron village.India’s State of Forest Reports 2021 indicates that in the past decade, over 968 acres of land has been newly covered with trees. This 84.4% increase in forest coverage area has been attributed to TSPL’s large tree plantation drives in & around Mansa.

Speaking about the drive and TSPL’s intervention in the area, Pankaj Sharma, COO – TSPL said, “Vedanta TSPL has embarked on the ESG journey committed towards ‘Transforming for Good’.
