NABARD sanctions Rs.222 cr to Govt of Punjab to augment school infrastructure

As per official information, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned Rs.221.99 cr under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) for construction of 2328 additional classrooms, 762 labs and 648 playgrounds in rural school in all 23 districts of Punjab. In addition to this, 404 integrated science labs, 62 physics labs, 44 chemistry labs 54 biology labs, 103 computer labs and 55 (National Skills Qualification Framework) NSQF labs have also been sanctioned.
These projects envisage benefitting a total of 3.80 lakh students including likely new enrollment of 0.35 lakh students in more than 3500 villages. Presently, there are 632 projects involving RIDF assistance of Rs.686 cr under various stages of implementation by Department of School Education, Govt of Punjab.
