Annual sports meet of Patiala’s first private Co-ed school begins

Modern Senior Secondary School, Patiala, the first private co-ed school established after Independence in Patiala, celebrated the resplendent Opening Ceremony of its 74th Annual Sports Meet on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 on its school grounds.
Annual sports meet of Patiala’s first private Co-ed school begins . Pankaj Dharmani, a famous cricketer who is also an alumnus of the school, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Ashish Kumar, a wrestler of international fame and Chandar Kant Mishra, Yog Guru,National Institute of Sports (NIS), Patiala were the guests of honour. They were accompanied by Jujhar Singh, President, Modern Senior Secondary School, Patiala along with other eminent personalities and the parents of the students.
The day was a fun filled festival of energy and delight in which more than 500 students participated in various events, like 100m, 200m, 4 x 100m, 110m hurdles and relay races. Football, table tennis and badminton will be played on 20th and 21th of October respectively. The spectators particularly enjoyed the drummer’s call Hula Hoop drill, yoga and band display performances given by the students of MSSSP. The winners of the events were awarded with medals.
Modern Senior Secondary School, Patiala was founded by Sardar Mohan Singh in 1948,was a visionary – well ahead of his times, just after Independence, passionately believing that education was the key to India’s future success as a modern nation state. He founded the school with the main objective of imparting value based education to boys and girls in the royal city of Patiala. His vision was to develop and nurture the potential of each student, both academically and otherwise.
In fact, Modern Senior Secondary School, Patiala, MSSSP (then known as Modern High School) was the first private school of Patiala.
