DIG who was transferred after formation of AGTF than again reposted is amongst recipient of HM’s special operation medal

Recognising the outstanding services of the Punjab Police, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India (GOI), has awarded the 16-member team of Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), Punjab with the “Union Home Minister’s Special Operation Medal” for the year 2022.

The awardees include the AGTF Chief ADGP Promod Ban and his team members DIG Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, AIG Gurmeet Singh Chauhan, AIG Sandeep Goel, DSP Bikramjit Singh Brar, SI Sukhpreet Singh, SI Sumit Goyal, SI Nitin Kumar, SI Shaganjeet Singh, SI Kulwinder Singh, SO Rahul Kumar Chechi, SI Moninder Singh, SI Rahul Sharma, SI Gurpreet Singh, SI Avtar Singh, and ASI Sukhjinder Singh.

On April 7,2022 Punjab government posted ADGP Special Crimes & Economic Offences Wing Promod Ban as ADGP of Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF) head, AIG Organised Crime Control Unit (OCCU) Gurmeet Singh Chauhan as AIG AGTF and CP Ludhiana Gurpreet Singh Bhullar as DIG AGTF besides DSP Kharar Bikramjit Singh Brar has been given additional charge of DSP AGTF.

Pertinently, the AGTF headed by ADGP Promod Ban was constituted on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to stamp out gangsters and anti-social elements from the state using intelligence-based inputs and coordinating with field units of Punjab Police to repose people’s faith and confidence in the law and order machinery.

Within one week, on April 15,2022 Punjab government had issued the transfer order of one of the four member  Anti Gangster Task Force- DIG Gurpreet Singh Bhullar,IPS, one of the most influential officer of Punjab police and posted him DIG, Ropar range from DIG, AGTF. .

After the issuance of transfer orders of DIG Bhullar from AGTF to DIG Ropar range within one week , the same was highlighted by News website royalpatiala.in on the same day. Next day the state government immediately issued revised orders and gave him the additional charge of DIG AGTF along with DIG, Ropar range and reposted him in AGTF.

Now, he is the only officer of AGTF having its additional charge along with main policing charge i,e. DIG Ropar range.

Now, after nearly after six months, DIG Gurpreet Singh Bhullar is a proud recipient of prestigious Home Minister’s special operation Medal and is amogst the 63 officers from all India level who are awarded this prestigious medal.

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav has been personally supervising the functioning of the AGTF.

DGP Gaurav Yadav, while congratulating the AGTF Team, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Home Affairs GOI for recognising the services of these officers/officials. “This recognition will boost the morale of the entire Punjab Police force and encourage them to work with more dedication and devotion,” he said.

Since the constitution of the AGTF, the force has excelled in several courageous operations resulting in neutralizing/arresting many gangsters, while, forcing numerous anti-social elements to leave the state.
