PSPCL employees taken unawares by Power minister; made surprise checking just before office closure hour

Today, Punjab power minister Harbhajan Singh ETO made a surprise visit at “Shakti Sadan” a Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL) zonal office at Jalandhar.
The surprise checking by power minister surprised everyone as he came at 4:45 pm , just 15 minutes before the closure of office hours.
As per sources, he remained for one hour in the Shakti Sadan, Jalandhar and physically verified the presence of employees of the powercom. He even checked the identity cards of the employees present in the premises, offices.
Shakti Sadan have around two dozen offices of powercom including the office of chief engineer North, superintending engineer (SE) Jalandhar, metering, enforcement etc.
Accompanied by the MLA Raman Arora, Chief Engineer Ramesh Lal Sarangal, the Minister while reaching at Shakti Sadan reviewed the functioning of different offices located in the premises. He emphasized that services of Power Department should be extended to the people far more efficaciously without any sort of hinder. Harbhajan Singh ETO pointed out that the State Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann making all out efforts to provide services in all Government offices in a smooth and transparent manner so that people should not face any difficulty while getting needful services. He said that surprise checking would also continue in future too so as to make the system more efficient and responsive in larger interest of consumers. “Directions have already been issued to all officials for continuous uninterrupted power supply vis-à-vis addressing complaints of consumers pertaining to electricity issues without any inordinate delay” said the Minister.
Meanwhile, the Chief Engineer Ramesh Lal Sarangal apprised the Minister about the functioning of different offices of power department located in Shakti Sadan. The Minister checks the offices of Chief Engineer, Deputy Chief Engineer, Deputy Chief Engineer P&M, Deputy Chief Engineer Tower Line, Deputy Chief Engineer PSTCL etc. Deputy Commissioner Jaspreet Singh, Deputy Chief Engineer Inder Pal Singh, Deputy Chief Engineer Balwinder Pal and senior officers were also present.
