Mata Gujri College organizes Kisan Mela, Agro-Industrial Exhibition

The Post Graduate Department of Agriculture of Mata Gujri college organized the second ‘Kisan Mela and Agro-Industrial Exhibition’ in which the farmers were told about the new technologies related to agriculture, benefits of organic farming and were also discouraged about the practice of stubble burning. Shivdular Singh Dhillon, Deputy Commissioner of Fatehgarh Sahib, inaugurated this event.
Appreciating the college for organizing this Kisan Mela, Mr. Dhillon said, “The youth should try not to depend on the laborers for the farming, but should themselves participate in it and adopt new techniques so that their produce increases many fold. He said that if the farmers are able to send their produce within appropriate time in the market, then the issues faced by them can be resolved. He told that there is a greater demand of Basmati in foreign market, so the farmers should give preference to its production. He also made the people aware about the subsidies.
Dr. Kashmir Singh, Director Principal of the college, said that the farmers should not depend on the government to solve the agricultural issues, but should try to overcome those by themselves. He stated that many Agro Industries and companies participated in this Mela and Exhibition and informed the farmers about the new technologies and techniques related to farming which could help them to increase their production; so that the farmers can fully utilize this opportunity and grow.
Prof. Bikramjit Singh Sandhu, Dean Academics, said in his thank you speech that the objective of this event was to encourage the farmers about the organic farming techniques, so that they can get maximum benefit from it and also become aware.
Dr. Dilip Singh, head of the Agriculture department, said the students of the department made a successful contribution in making this event successful.
