UGC deputy secretary delivers special lecture at JGND Punjab State Open University

A special lecture on the theme “Impact of UGC Regulations on ODL/Online Education in India” was successfully organized at the JGND Punjab State Open University.

The lecture was delivered by Lt. Cdr. Vinod Singh Yadav, Deputy Secretary, University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi on 17 April 2026.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Kuldeep Walia, Director, Centre for Internal Quality Assurance (CIQA), who highlighted the significance of regulatory frameworks in strengthening the quality of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and online education in India.

The Presidential Address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Rattan Singh, who emphasized the evolving landscape of higher education and the crucial role played by UGC regulations in ensuring transparency, accessibility, and academic excellence.

In his lecture, Lt. Cdr. Vinod Singh Yadav elaborated on the recent UGC regulations governing ODL and online programmes, discussing their impact on universities, learners, and the overall education ecosystem. He also addressed key challenges and opportunities in implementing these regulations effectively.
