Patiala’s duo makes India proud: part of team Chandrayaan 3

Patiala, who has produced many engineers, doctors, scientist, lawyers, sportsperson etc has once again feel proud of its two scientists Kamaldeep Sharma and Manish Gupta.

Kamaldeep Sharma, who has a humble background, belongs to a farmers family of Maggar Sahib Village in Patiala district has joined Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in 2021 by cracking all India entrance exam conducted by ISRO and gets third rank in the exam. He did his schooling from Narain Public School, Sanour, Patiala and later did his B.Tech in Mechanical from Geeta Institute of Management and Technology, Kurukshetra (Haryana). After that he started preparation for entrance exams and cracked the ISRO exam and got opportunity to serve in the organization of international repute. He is presently working as ‘C’ category scientist in ISRO and is the quality officer of LVM3 vehicle (Rocket) in Banglore divison of ISRO. He is also a team member of India’s next mission ‘Gaganyaan’ that would take Indian astronauts into the space for the first time on an Indian platform.

Another city student who is associated with Chandrayaan-3 by ISRO is Manish Gupta. He did his schooling from Guru Nanak Foundation Public School, Patiala in 2011. Than he did his B.Sc from Govt Mohindra College, affiliated with Punjabi University Patiala. After that he did his M.Sc (Physics) from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala with 97.4 percent. He was awarded Gold Medal by the university. Later he took admission in IIT Mumbai from where he completed his  MS (Master of Science) in Research in Physics. The ISRO advertised one Post for M.Sc Physics pass out. He applied for that.After initial screening, 200 people were called for written exam, out of which only 10 cleared the exam who were then called for interview out of which only 1 was to be selected. After clearing both written and interview, Manish was selected as Scientist in ISRO in 2018. He is working in the ISRO satellite centre in the crucial “Flight Dynamics Group”. Since his father had died in 2005, the upbringing of Manish and his sister was done by their mother who is in teaching profession.
