Two hoots to Punjab govt orders; Patiala schools call teachers

On January 7, 2024 Punjab government had declared holidays from January 8 to January 14,2024 in all government, aided, private schools in the state.
Education secretary KK Yadav has already clarified that teachers upto class 10 are also have holidays and they can take classes online.
This is not the first time that some private schools in Patiala are disobeying the government orders. Many schools in Patiala like Delhi Public School, DAV Public School, Guru Nanak Foundation Public School, Army Public School etc have called their teachers despite holidays declared by the state government.
On the condition of anonymity a teacher of said ‘ Army Public School, Patiala are not completely following the orders of Punjab government regarding the extension of winter break 2024. They are calling the teachers to school inspite of holidays.”
Another teacher of DAV Public school said “we have been called to the school. The principal has informed us that he has to take a meeting with teachers.”
Another teacher of school said “our school has not declared holiday to teachers and we are in the school.”
Meanwhile DAV Public school Principal Vivek Tewari couldn’t be contacted despite repeated attempts. He is also the president of the Patiala Sahodiya School Complex having around 70 CBSE schools of the district as its members.
When contacted the principal of Delhi Public School (DPS), Patiala, SN Shukla, he said “i was out of station and reached Patiala at 11:00 pm. I have called the teachers for a meeting. Class 12th practicals are going to start from January 16. We have to manage many things. Moreover they have been called to plan timetable for online classes.’ When asked its government orders and what a class teacher below 10th has to do in class 12th practical, he said “we declare holidays for them from tomorrow.”
When contacted the principal of Guru Nanak Foundation Public School, Patiala, Jasjit Kaur Sohi, she said “some of our teachers are coming for far of places. We didn’t get the time to inform them. We will declare holidays from tomorrow.”
Whereas a parent of student whose son is studying at St. Peters in class 11th said “ the school has asked its students to join online classes and even asked the parents to pay the school fees online and don’t come to school for depositing fee.”
DEO Patiala Harinder Kaur couldn’t be contacted despite repeated attempts. Army Public School Principal didn’t respond to phone call.
