Punjab industries demand met: two new power transformers commissioned by PSTCL-ETO

Punjab Power and Public Works Minister Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO on Friday informed that the Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited (PSTCL), in accordance with the policy of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Man led Punjab Government to provide reliable power supply to the people of the state, has commissioned 160 MVA, 220/66 KV and 100 MVA, 220/66KV power transformers worth Rs. 17.3 crore at Kharar and Talwandi Sabo respectively in the first 11 days of the year 2024.
Revealing this in a press communiqué issued here, the Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said that the PSTCL has commissioned new 160 MVA, 220/66 KV power transformer at 220 KV substation Kharar to replace existing 100 MVA, 220/66 KV power transformer at the cost of Rs. 9.88 Crore besides commissioning additional 100 MVA, 220/66 KV power transformer at the cost of Rs. 7.42 Crore at 220 KV substation Talwandi Sabo.
The Power Minister said that the industry established in Kharar area was demanding for augmentation of power transformer capacity at Kharar substation for the last 2-3 years. He said that by installing a transformer with a capacity of 60 MVA more than the capacity of the existing power transformer, the industry of this area would not face any problem related to power in the near future. He said the industry and general public in the areas fed from Kharar and Talwandi substations would be benefited in terms of reliability and quality power supply.
