Golden opportunity for power consumers: Punjab govt launches Voluntary Disclosure Scheme to increase load-CM

Continuing his endeavours to serve every section of society, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday announced to introduce Voluntary Disclosure Scheme (VDS) for tubewell, commercial and residential power connections.

Giving more details, the Chief Minister said that the Punjab State Power corporation Limited has been directed to launch these schemes for consumers having agriculture, residential and commercial power connections. He said that those consumers having agriculture connections and are willing to enhance their load of tubewell connections will have to now pay Rs 2500 per horse power as service charges against Rs 4750 per horse power fixed by Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission. Likewise Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the security for this has also been slashed to half by Rs 200 per horse power against Rs 400 horse power earlier.

The Chief Minister said that for residential connections too the VDS has been launched for enhancing the load and rates have been reduced to half. He said that now upto enhancement of load upto 2 kilowatt rates have been reduced to Rs 225 per kilowatt instead of existing Rs 450. Similarly, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that for enhancement of load between 2 to 7 kilowatts rate has been reduced to Rs 500 per kilowatt from Rs 1000, for 7 to 50 kilowatt rates have been slashed to Rs 750 to Rs 1500 per kilowatt and for 50 to 100 KVA rates will be now Rs 875 from existing Rs 1750.

Golden opportunity for power consumers: Punjab govt launches Voluntary Disclosure Scheme to increase load-CM said that as per VDS for commercial consumers the rate for enhancement of load upto 7 kilowatt have been reduced to Rs 500 from Rs 1000 per kilowatt. He said that for enhancement of load from 7 to 20 kilowatt it has been decreased to Rs 800 from Rs 1600 and for 20 kilowatt to 50 KVA it has been slashed to Rs 800 from existing Rs 1600 per kilowatt. Bhagwant Singh Mann exhorted the agriculture, residential and commercial consumers to take maximum benefit of this scheme and apply for enhancement of the load, if any, with PSPCL authorities.
