Dr. Balbir Singh Inaugurates Ultra-Modern Operation Theaters at Rajindra Hospital

Minister of Medical Education and Research and Health and Family Welfare of Punjab Dr. Balbir Singh inaugurated four ultra-modern, state-of-the-art modular operation theaters at Government Rajindra Hospital after renovation, at a cost of around Rs. 7.5 crores, and dedicated them to the patients.
Dr. Balbir Singh, emphasized that providing better health services to the residents of the state is the first priority of the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. He noted that Rajindra Hospital is continuously being upgraded by the government. Among the new facilities, eight operation theaters, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, have been established, four of which were dedicated to patients on this occasion. Dr. Balbir Singh highlighted the commencement of the Super Specialty Services Palliative Care Unit under the Pain Management Clinic, aiming to provide relief from pain to patients suffering from serious diseases like cancer.
Dr. Balbir Singh emphasized that the clean environment of the operation theaters will enhance the success rate of patients undergoing operations, ensuring they return home healthy. The operation theaters feature a laminar flow system and Hepa filters, ensuring continuous air changes every three to five minutes, with controlled temperature and humidity, thus minimizing the risk of infectious diseases for patients. The state-of-the-art operation theaters, with prefabricated and wall-fit equipment, are expected to significantly benefit patients.
The health minister highlighted that the ultra-modern modular operation theaters are designed to be free from bacteria, fungi, and viruses, thus eliminating the risk of infections spreading between patients. Such facilities, comparable to those in institutes like AIIMS or PGIMER, are not commonly found even in large corporate hospitals. Additionally, these theaters are equipped with simulators and recording systems, which will prove beneficial for the training of medical students studying in tertiary care institutes.
