Former PEC Director Prof Manoj Arora is new VC of BMU

BML Munjal University (BMU) on Saturday announced Prof Manoj Kumar Arora the former Director at Punjab Engineering College here as its new Vice Chancellor. Known for brining several administrative and academic reforms in PEC, Prof Arora  has  30-yr of experience as a teacher, researcher, administrator and a leader in academic institutions in India, UK and USA.

Prof Arora said , “ I am honored to join BML Munjal University, Gurgaon an institute destined to make a difference through innovative teaching, learning and research. Its unique experiential learning environment, focus on creativity, problem solving, entrepreneurship and innovation and cross-disciplinary research has attracted me the most.”

Sunil Kant Munjal, Chancellor, BML Munjal University said, “We are delighted to have Prof Arora as BMU VC.  He brings a wealth of interdisciplinary knowledge and global teaching and research experience. His work and presence will help the University with the continued focus on experience based learning.”

Meanwhile , Prof Arora holds a Ph.D in Remote Sensing from Swansea University, UK. He was a post-doctoral research fellow for about two years in a NASA sponsored project in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department, Syracuse University, USA. He has earned Outstanding Teacher Award twice at IIT Roorkee, the Commonwealth Scholarship Award, the DST Young Scientist Award, the AICTE Young Teacher Career Award, and post-doctoral fellowship. He is a fellow of Institution of Engineers (India). He also serves on a number of committees of IITs, DRDO, UPSC, CSIR, UGC, AICTE and other organizations of excellence.

Professor Arora is also an instrumental in creating Kalpana Chawla Chair of Geospatial Technology from Indian Railways and opening up of Smart City Innovation Center with the support of UT administration and Punjab govt at PEC.
