Robotic surgery rules out any human errors-Experts at IMA Chandigarh

While delivering a lecture on advancements in the knee replacement during a CME on ‘robot-assisted knee replacement’ at IMA Complex here last night, Dr. M S Dhillon, Prof and Head Depot of Orthopaedics & Joint Replacement at PGI Chandigarh said that robotic surgery is new innovation which has brought sea changes in orthopaedics field.
The CME was jointly organized by Amandeep Hospital, Amritsar and Ojas Hospital, Panchkula and Dr. Dhillon was guest of honour during occasion
Dr. Dhiilon further said that robotic surgery rules out any human errors. The apprehensions like it may cause harm them or some fault can occur in the functioning of the robotic equipment are proved to be wrong with the success of Robotic surgery in knee replacement, he remarked.
Dr. Avtar Singh, Head of Department of Orthopedics at Amandeep Hospital, Amritsar said that the robotic system is designed to help the surgeon not only plan the surgery based on a patient’s unique anatomy, but also position the total knee implant using a combination of computer and robotic assistance.
Meanwhile during occasion, Dr. V K Batish, Director Dept of Neuro Surgery talked about the advanced neurosciences center at Ojas. Dr. A K Sharma, Consultant Neurosurgery talked about giant tumours.
Among others, Dr. Neeraj Kumar and Dr. Rajiv Arya presidents of IMA , Chandigarh and IMA , Panchkula respectively were also presented during occasion.
