As per sources, controversial self-styled godman and Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s new parole application for 20 days has been accepted, as it again coincides with the upcoming Haryana Assembly election. This time again he gets parole with certain conditions.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim returned to Sunaria jail on September 2 after availing a 21-day furlough, granted on August 13. Now, again he gets 20 days parole.

As per available information, the jailer of the Sunaria jail has denied this and said “ presently he has no information about this.”

Since 2020, Gurmeet Ram Rahim has been granted temporary release 14 times, totalling 259 days. His paroles and furloughs frequently coincide with elections. For instance, his January 19 parole was linked to general elections, while his August 13 furlough aligns with the Haryana Assembly election on October 5.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim had applied for a 20-day parole, as he is eligible under the Haryana jail manual. The application had been sent to the Chief Election Officer for approval to avoid controversy, given the Dera chief’s paroles and furloughs are often linked to elections. He has been accused of influencing elections through his followers and had even established a political wing in his Dera.

The timing of Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s parole requests often aligns with elections, raising suspicions about his influence on voters. Despite official denials from BJP leaders regarding any political motives, some party members believe that the Dera’s sway over voters could benefit them amidst an anti-incumbency sentiment.
