14 year old boy succumbed to suspected dengue in Patiala; Kisan leader Gurnam Singh Charuni bereaved

A 14-year-old boy, Gaganpreet Singh is suspected to have succumbed to dengue virus in a private hospital in Rajpura in Patiala district.

Gaganpreet Singh is a grandson of Master Gurmeet Singh who is a brother of Samyukta Kisan Morcha leader Gurnam Singh Charuni. He is a nephew of BKU leader  Charnjit Singh.

Gaganpreet Singh is the only son of his parents. His father Manpreet Singh is a resident of village Mardanpur in Ghanaour area of Patiala district.

As per health department officials “he was admitted to a private hospital  on Rajpura-Chandigarh road , Rajpura in a serious condition on November 1,2024 where he died due to suspected dengue, today. The blood samples have been sent to Civil Hospital, Rajpura for confirmation of dengue. The reports will be available by tomorrow morning.”

As per reports, till date 292 cases of dengue cases are reported positive in the district and 38 are still active cases. Out of these 17 cases are reported today. Out of these 17, 15 are reported from urban area and 2 from rural area.

Dengue, also known as dengue fever or breakbone fever, is a mosquito-borne disease caused by the dengue virus. It’s prevalent in tropical and subtropical areas, but can also spread to other areas during the summer.  Dengue is spread by the bite of an infected Aedes mosquito. The mosquito becomes infected when it bites a person with dengue in their blood.
